do you realy need to have a dual cpu system?
if you're just buying it for gaming, forget about dual cpu's, the only reason you'd want dual cpu's would be for a server or for heavy workloads.
just for casual user, it's too much hassle

For dual CPU mobo's you only really want to look at Tyan or SuperMicro.
As for OS, Win NT4, Win 2k, Win XP Pro (NOT home), any Unix variant (inc Linux) etc
As amphoteric88 said, there is no need for dual CPU's unless you intend to do a lot of processor intensive tasks, and for most app's you won't notice the differance, most apps will NOT run across 2 CPU's, and you'll find that one sit's idle most of the time.
There have also been case's where some programs run slower due to the resources required to manage the 2 CPU's

the second tom's hardware link i posted above is a comparison between 6 dual cpu boards
what will you be using the setup for? surely one processor would cope with pretty much anything, getting two is gonna be a lot more expensive

I buy PC Pro and recently I saw a PC that had a twin Intel Xeon 3.06GHz that could be overclocked to 3.7GHz .

there have been numerous pentium 4's which have been overclocked lately, AmarjitSingh.
the highest overclock i've seen was the P4 3.06GHz up to 4.44GHz
my question is this: which do you think would be faster? one P4 operating at 4.44GHz or 2 Xeon's operating at 3.7GHz each?
the answer?
one P4 running at 4.44GHz, at least for a gaming system. for an office type system, who knows?
