i need to do this for my report and explain what the hell this is and how to do it

If you don't understand how to work it out, then ask your teacher.

You'll just get yourself into more trouble by not doing it.

is it like a and b are diff numbers or a * b.c :S it's a bit confusing.

Indeed, it's algebraic pish. You would either use the convention ab or a.b to represent a multiplied by b.

yeah but you see, he gave the report thursday, and i didnt really look at it until today and its due monday
