The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation yesterday said it will give $500 million to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria over the next five years.

The contribution is by far the largest from a nongovernment source since the Global Fund was created in 2002.

indeed. and to think how much criticism he gets.
hes without a doubt the biggest private donator to charity in the world.
he donates more than many small countries.
    well done billy

Well if you consider all the money he has, he should be able to spare some money for charities!
However $500m in 5 years 100m per year, well thats a lot of money! Good for him!

"With great power comes great responsibility" - I think the Bill and Melinda Foundation has fullfilled this very well.

He deserves credit for this one. He could just sit in his chair and ignore the problems the world suffer...he would be criticised but no one could arrest him for it...
But no, he understands that he is a human being and is right to help the others who suffer.

    Good one

Very proactive on his part. Considering all the flack he has taken over the years regarding Microsoft it's very nice to see another side of him.

500mil. is little compared to what he's worth...

Not that it's not a nice donation anyway.

Besides I read somewhere that he donates like 1/4 of his income to charity so I dont see why this one makes the news.
