I'm having a problem with a laptop of mine which is running Windows x64, but can't seem to finish the repair install after I had put the disk. Its been stuck at about "34 minutes" for about 2 days. I have a different partition on my hard drive otherwise I would've said screw it, and formatted the whole thing. I was thinking of formatting the os partition with linux, but unsure if it would damage the other partition. Any suggestions? I want to try and keep the partition that doesn't have my os.

That's the whole idea of partitions is that you format one and the others are fine.
Just format the windows partition and reinstall windows.
