    Either a 7950gt 512mb card (is the extra 256mb really necessary?) or a 7900gt with 256mb.

    Wtf this 7900gt is the same as a 7950gt but higher priced lol. And it runs slower.

    i'd wait for directx 10 cards to comeout before spending 300$ on a vid card... there are some top notch games (quake 4, FEAR) that utilize 512mb video memory, so if you need a new video card(7950gt) right now, go right ahead.

    I have two 7900 GTX 512 cards and I'm happy with them. Only downside is that I can't run two monitors with SLI enabled.

    Yes, the 79xx series is fast enough to take advantage of the extra Vram. Go for 512mb.

    Why even bother buying a card now?!?! The Vista is coming out soon with directx10 and those cards are going to be outdated... I guess if you got the money go for it
