Thread: Playing MPEG-2 videos

  1. #1
    Hi
I wonder if you could help me. I recorded some videos with my Sony Cam. I think it records to MPEG-2 format. However, I am unable to play these videos on my pc. WM Player or Real player cannot play them. They just crash.

Do I need a special codec?

    Thanks

Go to GSpot page and download the utility to see what kind of codec is really used.

If they are MPEG-2 you should not have any problem to watch the videos with VLC or MPC.

    Thanks.
I did use gspot. In the codec section, It says 'MPEG2_Video' and the status is 'Codec(s) are installed'

So I guess this is not a problem with codec, but something else.

Did you try playing the videos with other player? Like Media Player Classic or VLC Media Player?
