    Background:

I use a program called Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2. What it does is it emulates all the different kind of hardware pedals you can get with a guitar (distortion, delay, wah wah, etc.)

I'm currently using my Mobo's integrated mic in. In the program it won't let me change the input latentcy to under 15ms.

So there is a small delay every time I hit a note before I hear it come out of the speakers with the software pedal effect.

I want to buy a soundcard that would be capable to handling this with 0 input latency and 0 output latency.

I don't know much about reading deep into the specs of soundcards.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi, I am not into this kind of thing but maybe this can help you I grabbed it from the internet

it seems to me that the more expensive sound cards are better than cheap ones but also other factors on your computer influence latency

Its funny the sound card is the last thing I think about when suggesting a computer for friends , its always onboard . Different strokes for different folks tho .

Made me think could you not hook up an amp to your computer ?

I checked that out and it lists for 129.00 USD. I really wish it didn't come with the software, I'm sure that jacks the price up quite a little bit, but I guess that's where the profit is.

peat, the problem is not straight recording off the electric into the computer (just get an adapter small to big), that works just fine but you'll have a typical electric guitar sounding stock with no effects; might as well hook up a mic and record an acoustic guitar.

Its the sofware effects program. It isn't able to convert the input to the software effect to the output.

I figure its limited because its all done in the Motherboard and that makes it harder to produce quality real time effects.
