avi freeze

Im trying toplay a file that requires the following codecs:

Video: DivX 5.0
Audio: 0x0055(MP3) ID’d as MPEG-1 Layer 3

I installed DIVX 5 for the video codecs, DivX Anti-freeze and avidefreezer. But the video keeps freezing AND the sound and video are not synchronized. What is the best codec to install for the file or how can the freezing be stopped.

Sounds like a badly encoded file to me, Try playing it in VLC player and see if it does the same, VLC has codecs built into the player.
