about 2 months ago.. every now and again the PC simply shuts itself off.. no warning, usually when doing multiple tasks on the PC..

then when I switch it on straight away, on the BIOS screen, it gives a message "CPU overheating! Press F1 to continue".

anyway to make this never happen..??

    Yes, improve the cooling.

Seriously, something as simple as blowing the dust n fluff out of the CPU heatsink/fan can sometimes make a big difference.
Get a can of compressed air from your nearest computer seller type person and blow all the dust out that you can find inside the case.
    See how that improves things.

edit: i just attack them with the business end of a vacuum cleaner since it saves on cleaning/dusting my living room afterwards. Many people advise not doing this as the rush of air around the nozzle produces static that can kill chips. apparently

If you can afford it, liquid cooling is surprisingly effective

Motherboard Monitor isn't being developed any more and may not work properly with recent motherboards.
    Check out Speedfan.
