Ditto on what I quoted, word for word. Even so, your reflection of the film is matching up with my predisposed opinion (my previous mention quoted here).

All that's left is to actually confirm it, what's the status at the moment (in theatres, released to DVD/Bluray)?

Moneyball is still in theatres around here.

    Twilight: Breaking Hymen, part 1.
Well, fellow Twihards, this is it, the beginning of the end.
To mark the momentous occasion I DLed the first/crappiest cam I found- hoping for lots of popcorn crunching (and not disappointed!) and bathroom seeking screen blockers (again, not disappointed!).
Then I got decisively stoned and fast forwarded my way through the movie.

I really admire the producer's decision to cast actual dead people in the lead roles.
Greatly adds to the overall reality of the franchise as the cast lumbers through the story, galvanized no doubt by hidden wires hooked to car batteries.

Oh, I said "story", which sorta implies a plot.
There isn't one really, I think all the action got saved for Part 2.
    Spoiler: Show

I really enjoyed the ten minutes I spent watching Twilight: Boinking Bella.
Gonna start stocking up on Thorazine so I'm ready for Part 2.

Overall, I'd rate this installment of the franchise a solid 4.6 Newtonmeter.

From what I remember of commentary about this series, the Mormon creator was driving the theme along abstinence, right? So, did he/she sell out on his/her principle?

Oh no, Twilight is all about Just Say NO!...to pretty much everything.
Fer crissake, the male lead is a hundred year old vampire who "abstains" from human blood (and is wracked with guilt for his lapses), "abstains" from fucking his (presumptively) hot girlfriend and "abstains" from turning Bella into a vamp until after the wedding.
If Edward didn't sparkle and wasn't obviously gay, he'd be the poster boy for the Christian right.

Oh sorry, didn't know there was a wedding at play; invalidates my entire post.

The Wedding is the whole point!
You can already buy (really!) knockoffs of Bella's wedding dress for @$700...but it doesn't come with popcorn.

I've not read or seen any of these Twilight things, I just know of their existence (enough to get the reference when they're being satired). I also know the chick that plays a role in them has the deadest expression of any living person I've ever seen. She should really be doing stand up comedy or perhaps a quirky supporting role in a sitcom. She makes Steven Wright seem too excitable.

Anyways, that's my excuse for not knowing the whole point.

Hopefully your next movie won't be Leaving Las Vegas.
