Was just wondering how do you figure out how long a battery lasts if the device uses 100ma and the battery is 600mah?
What is a mah? 600 milli-amp hours?

Yes mah is milli-amp hours.
A 600 mah battery can supply 600 ma for 1 hour.
or
A 600 mah battery can supply 100 ma for 6 hours.
Approximately.
kool that makes perfect sense.
Can you explain kwh too? If a fridge uses 400kwh it's not really 400kw per hour is it
Yes. Kwh is kilo watts per hour.
1 kwh is 1000 watts consumption for a period of 1 hour
or
1 kwh is 100 watts consumption for a period of 10 hours.
Don't know about your fridge rating. Maybe yearly consumption or something? You better check that.
What exactly does the label say?

The compressor in the frig, particularly the motor in the compressor, would and could draw large amounts of current.
Electric motors, without a doubt, draw large amounts of current in any application or use.
This is why solid state devices, such as flash-based mp3 palyers, have a long battery life. Compare this to hard-drive based players which use up batteries much quicker.
