    This is a good thread.

Do I really have to buy a solution like Chewie's above (google returned 0 UK hits)?

Or can I, and this may be a stupid question, use vodka?

30/70 mix of isopropyl alcohol to water will work just fine. Use with an all-cotton cloth or old cotton t-shirt. Nice polishing cloths are available in the automotive section at department stores. (There usually blue, I got mine at Walmart)

Don't use Windex or any other cleaners with ammonia in them. You will damage the plastic protective screen and make it cloudy, effectively ruining it.

Thanks for pointing that out, i just got a new lcd and probably would have ended up ruining it with windex.

People act like you should just have isopropyl alcohol lying around the house

Can I use household alcohol (ie the stuff you drink), or would I have to find isopropyl alcohol in a shop (some kind of hardware store or something I suppose)?
