well, with me buying a lcd monitor around the corner i'm gonna need to know how to clean it. i use windex to clean my crt and nothing ever cums of it. works fine. googled this and kinda crappy findings. anyways, for the most part they said 50% water and 50% (90%) alcohol. then for the cloth.. something soft i guess. what do u guys use that works well and doesn't scratch or harm ur lcd?

I only ever use a damp cloth.

I also cut of the fingers of anyone who touches my LCD screen.

It shouldn't attract as much dust as a CRT though, because there is less static.

i tend to eat and drink at my pc. splash of food and/or drink happens. i'm sloppy. water splashes are bad and burn in? i have no idea. so, i'll probably need some kind of fluid to clean the screen. i'm thinking...

How close do you sit to your screen

Just sit back a bit, it'll help your posture and keep your screen clean.

i thought alcohol was bad for the LCD, i use a damp paper towel to quickly wet the screen and then i quickly get a dry paper towel to clean it, it looks brand new after it =] shrugs i find it to be a lot of work tho because if you don't wipe it right away it leaves marks

I just use a damp paper towel. No chemicals or special sprays. Water and a gentle hand is all.

If you clean your LCD, make sure to use 91% alcohol. Alcohol 70% or so seems to leave some water left over on the surface, which leaves marks you can see when you turn off the monitor.

Using pure water will leave marks you can see when the monitor is even on sometimes, proving to make the screen look worse.

Pretty much stay away from cleaning with water.
I wouldn't go with Windex either, because it's ment for glass and mirror surfaces.

(you can however start using windex on metal though! Makes it look a good 20% shinier! Try it!)

@Barbaross, yea I know some people like that too. I look at their own monitor and it's covered in a thick layer of finger grease! Makes the Refresh Rate look like it's dropped a good 10-20hz! LOL.
