I've been working on an upgrade for my computer rig. Currently running a amd xp 2800+ with >1 GB ram.

    What I'm considering:
    Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
    link http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813128017
    $115.99

    CPU
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6400 - Retail
    http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16819115004
    $218.50

    Ram
    G.SKILL 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL4S-1GBPK - Retail
    http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16820231088
    $124.99

    PCI card
Koutech IO-PIR133 PCI IDE Controller Card - Retail
    http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16815104214
(I don't have enough ide motherboard connectors)
    $14.99

    Video Card
FREETECH PX6200TD-128M GeForce 6200 128MB DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail
    http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814122205
(I wanted cheap, but acceptable. My current card is AGP)
    $44.99

My main purpose for my computer is hard video editing, autoring, encoding/transcoding. Also I do heavy image editing and experiment with webservers and the such.

Anyone have any suggestions or critiques?

Should I be thinking about the fact that the stock cpu cooler might really suck and need to invest a few bucks for a different cooler?

Or maybe a cheaper or more acceptable video card (I'm not heavy into pc games, but I go multi-out a lot)

Incompatable ram, or too expensive ram for not enough performance?

if I call them, aren't they going to get me? (you know, down there)

it seems as though u are on some sort of budget. so, for what ur gonna be doing with this new build only thing i'd like to add (my opinion) is u downgrade ur cpu to this and the money u've saved from the downgrade get this videocard instead. sounds like u "do" play games sometimes. so, at least by having said card u won't be as crippled as u would had been with the one ur currently going with.

    I agree.

I decided to bump my cpu down to the
    E6300 intel core 2 duo

Then upgrade the video card to the
    eVGA 256-P2-N420-TX GeForce 6600GT 256MB
