If you're buying, home. If *cough* *cough* you're not XP Pro Corporate.

    Pro has more features.
Corporate is better - it's Pro but you don't have to activate it.

    Get it from this thread

What are your needs for an OS? And are you gonna pay for it? And if so Pro is about $100USD more. Details.

Well look at this way. Pro has more features and is only better not worse. But the features are not needed for home computers unless your planning to use them.

If you want to know the actual differeneces and why you should use one or the other just go to http://www.microsoft.com and go to windows section and then XP.

The extra features are many, but what I found to be helpful in the PRO version is the ease in setting my internet.

I have DSL, All I needed was to type my user name and the password. As if it were magic, I was connected to the internet. It was that simple! All drivers were installed by XP.

I connected my kid's computer to mine, with another LinkSYS card (and a 25 fot wire), and again! I didn't have to install drivers. Within seconds, both PCS were linked together.

I am not sure what XP home edition has, but the PRO version was so easy to install on a blank hard drive. I didn't have to install drivers for anything! (except for the GeForce4 crard, and XP installed working generic drivers for that too).

The biggest difference is the price!
    Home Edition = $199.00
    Pro Edition = $299.00
