Thread: Did Java screwed my computer??

  1. #1

    I was playing Scrabble online last week when it began to act weirdly, wouldnt refresh the page etc and was really slow, and then would keep losing connection.

    No virus came up, so i manually scanned it and it found a trojan in the Java program files. It highlighted it, but didnt quarintine it or fix it. I read about the virus and did what was suggested, and scanned agian. The trojan didnt appear, but my computers ben buggered since. I deleted java from my system and installed the latest, still no luck. I emailed Java, they sent me a generic email which didnt help.

    My gmail opens in basic html and wont let me select any of my emails. Even worse, i havent played scrabble in a week.

    Seriously, what can i do? I've tried everything i know about!

    Cheers everyone!

    i seriously doubt that java had anything to do with it, but recently gmail had been hacked so maybe by u using gmail on ur pc has something to do with it.

    I know Java didnt do it knowingly, i think something came through them while i was playing.

    I've just noticed - in my D: loads of weird folders are appearing, titled "msxml4-KB927978-enu" etc etc..

    In them, there's a txt doc which has either loads of code on it or some kind of logging thing. (don't wanna copy as it may show things about mylaptop).

    The code starts:
    === Verbose logging started:

    goes on about resetting caches and reboot this and disable that....

    and finishes:

    MSI (s) (58:98) [18:02:04:426]: Cleaning up uninstalled install packages, if any exist
    MSI (s) (58:98) [18:02:04:426]: MainEngineThread is returning 0
    MSI (s) (58:BC) [18:02:04:426]: Destroying RemoteAPI object.
    MSI (s) (58:30) [18:02:04:426]: Custom Action Manager thread ending.
    === Logging stopped: 1/9/2007 18:02:04 ===

    What have i done!?!? There were 20 folders like this, with about 100 lines of script in each. Since typing this, 2 more have been added.

    I've tried sveral virus scans, say my pc is clean.

    HELP!!

    I looked at my log on my anti-virus, and this is what flagged up:

    Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\pRT.jar-64395656-3235a42d.zip <HiPointInstallShieldRT.class> - Java/Shinwow.BH trojan
