Thread: Annoy Problem With Settings

  1. #1

    Question Mark

Hi there, ive disabled a few services, well more than a few, and everything is fine except a small annoying problem.

Just say i make a new toolbar in the taskbar, next time i turn on the laptop, the toolbar is no longer there, also if i check a certain box, the box is unchecked next time i turn laptop on again.

Its like ive disabled a service that remembers settings, any ideas??

    Cheers

i think it could be this

Disable Save Settings at Exit (All Windows) Popular
When Windows exits it normally saves the desktop layout, including icon location, appearance and other parameters. This setting disables any changes from being saved therefore allowing you to preserve a configured layout.

Open your registry and find the key below.
Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value called 'NoSaveSettings' set the value to equal '1' to enable the restriction.
Exit your registry, you may need to restart for the changes to take effect.

    Registry Settings
    User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
    Explorer]
    System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
    Explorer]
    Value Name: NoSaveSettings
    Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
    Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)
if you have that key in the registry, and it is set to 1 then set it to 0.
The only advantage with this tweak is a faster shutdown, and alot of annoyance trying to find where you where before you shutdown
