I was able to dl in less than 20 minutes Fleetwood Mac Rumours.

Can someone explain to me why I would need to extract the music if I am happy with it as one long file. What does extracting do? I'm just using it in my portable mp3 player for running, or on my computer while working.

I don't see any explanation anywhere on what extracting would do.
Would someone please tell me all the features extracting does? TIA!

You don't have to extract it, unless you want to. It's just a convenience.

You need to extract the complete album using 'Albumwrap' or 'Alba Extractor', i have found that the latter works for more files. This is useful as splitting the tracks means that you can switch between the tracks individually instead of having one big cumbersome mp3 file to deal with. The software is very easy to use as well. If you write the mp3 album to cd without extracting it then the cd player will not have the facility to 'flick' through the tracks, it will just appear as one long track. Extract it!
