What type of service are you getting with blueyonder?

If its one of there broadband services then you need a network cable.

I'm not sure about the dial-up though, you might be able to do that with a phone cable.

I'm on the 1Mb blueyonder broadband, their a good service you always get high data transfer rates. Plus the upload speed does not seem to effect the download speed for some reason. I dont know if they put it on two seperate streams or something. I get 120-130 kb/s without uploading and the same even if im uploading at 30 kb/s !!!

Your best bet, assuming you are getting broadband is to do it via a router.

Connect the router to the cable modem and both PCs to the router. There are many advantages in doing it this way.

If wiring is inconvenient you can get a wireless router and use wireless connections. The USB versions work really well.

I have a mixed wired and wireless setup with 2 PCs and a laptop. They all share and it works well.

PS your upload and download are independant for most ISPs. The one does not effect the other.

Telewest has a good Broadband service.

A Router is generally good, but it can cause problems if you want to use ftp, depending upon the specs.

I know but, you can't just upgrade your existing service, you 've got to get a new line put in and i couldnt be bothered with the hastle. The f**ked up my whole house last time drilling and shit. Plus its another 3 months waiting list. There's no point, in my opinion, getting the 2Mb anyway. Few files on kazaa have enough users sharing for it to be cost efficient.

Are you offering to pay for his upgrade?

IF its available in his area, which is dubious.....as its only available at the moment to 30% of the 1MB users...unfortunatly im in the 70%
