Thread: What is a good time synchro progarm ?

  1. #1
    HI Guys

My new PC's clock is not very reliable and I always miss watching the news !

Can anyone recommend a simple, free program for XP that will synchronise my PC's clock.

I do not need atomic clock millisecond accurancy, just down to the nearest minute or seconds.

    regards

It's already built into the XP clock.

That's right. 2 servers are provided. time.windows.com and time.nist.gov. They are under the Internet Time tab within the Date and Time Properties window.

    Thanks guys.

I had not noticed the 2 options under Control Panel / Date And Time.

But, would you believe it, every time I went to select one of them and synchro with their clock as mine was 10 minutes out, it took ages and then an error message came up about not being able to synrcho for 10 days as my date was incorrect ! Which it was not !

Is this another example of Microsoft getting things right on the 3rd try ?

So I tried the Atomic Clock that Lee551 recommended above and it installed real easily and worked first time ! it even connects to the same server that XP says it does !

And not only that its icon looks cool.

Is it possible that you have a firewall that is blocking communication of the XP clock?
