Open the par2 files with quickpar or in your case macpar to repair your downloaded files. Open the rar files (after youve checked them with macpar) with winrar (or for the mac, UnRarX) and extract the files inside.
Btw, have you seen my post on your previous thread ?
Yes i saw your post. Thanks a million for your help with all that, as you can tell i've now got everything sorted out. Before i began using Usenet i never thought of myself as a computing noob- i've used them since i was a kid and i've got a degree in specialist systems but this confuses the hell out of me!
These files have several par2 files and several rar files- do i have to check and extract the files from all of them? What's going to happen once everything's extracted? Surely i'm left with hundreds of files(?)
The PAR2 file you click (does not matter witch one of them you double click) is a part of a set that contains recovery parts for the set of rar files.
Instead of making one big rar file of 3GB they split up the file in smaller ones. If you right click a rar file, the program extracts the content of all the files.
Try one of the automated programs which check pars, repair and extract with little intervention.
You would just open it in the program.
