Have to go and look at my nephews pc tomorrow which was turned off all the wall whilst it was still on.
Now, when it's switched on you get boot up options, safe mode, last known working, start xp etc etc and none of them work, each time it gets to the xp screen the pc restarts.

Any ideas on what to do with the pc?

    Recertify the hard drive.
If it passes, run a repair from the install disk...NOT the Repair Console (first option) but a repair after it finds the already installed OS.

Open up the PC and find out who manufactured the drive.
All of the big makers offer free diagnostic tools on their websites.
"Recertifying" is basically just testing to make sure the drive is physically OK.

HDD was fine, repair didn't sort it so he suggested reinstalling XP, I didn't need to be asked twice!

    Reinstall sorted it.
