hi guys/girls im having a problem with my computer any help would be great.

every single time i take an xvid and try to convert it to a dvd my computer turns off about 10 mins into convert. no matter what program i use nero, vso, dvdsanta,it shuts off. at 1st i didnt put 2 and 2 together and thought it was the power supply, so i got a new one and since i dont convert xvids to dvds offten the problem in my mind was fixed (power supply)well a few days ago i tried to convert a xvid and it shut off so i turned it back on tried another proggy with the same results. im starting to think its my cpu or ram right now i got a pen d @ 2.7 and 1 gb of ram (patriot ram) and i beleave a msi mb. has anybody ever had the problem? if so what were the results?

    thanks for any help!

    Could your machine be overheating?

Run Everest while your converting and watch your temps.

Dollars to donuts it's the software involved in the conversion process.
A faulty PSU or overheating scenario wouldn't be picky enough to wait for a specific software app to trigger.

Those temps look ok, try a different converter, I'd recommend WinAVIVideoConverter.
