using after leaving utorrent on for a few hrs all my sockets are used up, and everything is slowed down. Websurfing wise. And it takes forever to download a file. Can it be the sp2 ?

you need to leave a little bit of you upside bandwidth for other things, like browsing. use the speed guide to set you numbers or set it manually at 75-80% of you actual upload capacity (not the advertised numbers).
