    I'm planning to buy this from a friend, and this desktop worked fine for him for 2 years with no problems. He is upgrading to a brand new Conroe system, and wanted a better looking case as well so he's selling everything.

    Pentium 4: 3.0Ghz w/ HT.
    Ram: 2x512mb unknown brand.
    Gfx Card: 5200FX.
    Case: Some wierd brand, never heard of it.
    PSU: unknown, but worked fine for 2 years so should be okay?
    Mobo: Unknown.
    Monitor: BenQ T905 (TFT - 19` - 1280 x 1024 - 250 cd/m2 - 450:1 - 12 ms - 0.294 mm - DVI, VGA (HD-15)

    All the above included for $400 CAD (around $350 USD), no taxes for ovis reasons.

    Is this a good buy? Or am I at least breaking even?

    I thought it was a good choice because mom needs a faster comp and bigger screen for just internet surfing, which this machine could handle easily.

    Replace the "Unknowns" with some names, then we'll talk.

    Pentium 4: 3.0Ghz w/ HT
    new
    $74.00

    Ram: 2x512mb
    new
    $70.00

    Gfx Card: 5200FX
    new (worthless for gaming, I gave a 5700 away for free)
    $40.00

    Case probably came with the PS, and two years is a long time for something like that. I wouldn't be surprised if it crapped out soon.

    For the money, I think you could do better with brand new parts. Especially if you don't need the monitor.

    Tigerdirect is having a good sale going on some systems over the weekend for about the same amount of money.

    @Broken...
    You're not including the motherboard, HDD(s?), OS and optical(s?) but I agree about the PSU.

    @Seedler...
    Sounds like an OK deal for Mom's PC to me.
    Make sure you get a legal license for XP and plan on exchanging the power supply sooner rather than later.

    Thx for the replies, I'll call the guy soon and inquire about the "unknowns" and then decide. When I do find out, I'll post updated specs and hopefully it's a good deal.
