    Have Googled this all bloody day with no luck!

    Here's the prob;

    Switch on pc, get a beep, then about 2 minutes later get another beep and Windows loads without a problem at what I would call normal speed.

    Why does it take 2 minutes to post and how do I get through the post sequence quicker?
    (have set quick boot in bios, disabled floppy and cd rom in boot sequence)

    HELP!!!

    This stuff only works once Windows has initiated...what Dodgy needs to do is get into BIOS and see if "Quick boot" (or whatever your BIOS calls it) is enabled.

    Cheers Clocker, had already enabled "quick boot" in BIOS.

    Thanks 100%, your effort is appreciated mate.

    His first post already says it's enabled.

    Is this a new problem with this PC? When did it start being slow?

    - Possibly it's trying to boot from LAN? Try to disable that.

    Have you removed (or moved) a drive?

    If you have a drive connected and bios detection for that connector isn't set to AUTO then the bios will wait until the drive is ready or the timeout expires, usually about 2 minutes. If you've removed the drive (or moved it to another connector) then obviously it will never be ready.

    Lynx got it, I removed a hdd.
    Have disabled both IDE Slaves in BIOS cos I don't use them and POST now takes about 30 seconds.

    Thanks Lynx.
