My sister bought a new laptop yesterday (Acer Aspire 3104WLMi)
It has Windows Vista Home Premium as OS.

It should have 1024 MB RAM, but when I check the system info (right click computer icon) it says 766 MB RAM. CCleaner gives the same RAM info.

Is this normal? does Vista use the other ram?

maybe something about vista is blocking the memory address ranges so they can't be used?

a good program i use for stuff like that is called "hwinfo", sorry no link. and even if you did use hwinfo to look at the memory ranges used, where to go from there would be the problem.

if hwinfo isn't found on google u can always try aida16. both are made for floppy boot of course.

You can thank Vista for that- the Aero package requires alot of RAM to work.
