even if your nic is different from your nic on the account in question

He/she has no life, so it would be enough if your avatar is the same or that of the person you invite is the same as someone who is recently invited. He/she may look at your ip on FTN and look at your previous posts and see that way (i.e. by where you have said you are in your posts or profile).
With only 5000 members and very limited invites, it's not too difficult to really narrow down the field of possibilities. This is largely why you don't hear about ppl being disabled for trading nearly as much at big sites like Oink--there are just too many invites going on every day.

We do not hand over identifying details of FST members, period (by that I mean full stop (.) and not women's troubles).
There is a thread in the BT section somewhere that describes how it's done - sending a PM containing an image and checking the IPs that access it.
