OK, the software I am aware of, now how about the best format?
I prefer flac to listen to at home, but do use mp3's for my portable player. To convert them, I use a program called WINLAME. It is a Lame encoder w/ a nice interface and open source. It is very self explanatory. Just drag and drop files or directories, and choose how to convert them. I usually use variable bitrate w/ quality set to 2 and standard encoding quality.
/me always ignores advice from (ex) traders, especially those that show little understanding toward Skweeky; still you might come in handy in case JPaul or manker suddenly pop - up.. perhaps you could continue after all. I am a constant bit rate man myself, colons aside...
Anyway, I always thought flac concerned collateral damage.
Take my input or leave it, I don't really care. If you don't want help from me, maybe you can get it from the guide that's been posted in the guides section for years.
