I'm really enjoying camping at the moment, so I thought I'd share some of the hidden gems I found over the last couple of months.

Feel free to add on, always looking out for new places to go!

    1. Loch Freuchie

Ideal if you plan to go wild camping.
The local farmers are really nice and they'll let you stay on their land as long as you don't disturb the sheep ( suffice to say they don't really like Welsh people)

    2. Killin

Main attraction is the Killin falls, but there's loads of quaint little camp sides about as well.
If you follow the road towards Amulree, you'll end up in the hills where there's loads of places for wild camping as well
It's fairly close to Loch Tay, if you were into watersports ( the real kind, not the Seedler kind)

    3. Shell Bay (Elie)

Shell bay is part of a larger bay called Largo Bay. It's near a village called Elie.
You can't really go wild camping here so you'll need to find yourself a wee campsite ( Shell Bay caravan park is brilliant!).
I think Shell Bay got its name from the mussle banks you find all over the bay. When the tide is low, the water pulls back about 1 mile and you can just go and pick mussles on the beach ( yummmmm).
There's also a walking trail called 'the chain trail'
It's very deserted. but absolutely gorgeous. Quite dangerous though, as some of the areas are only accessible when the tide is low

Don't tell these people stuff like that.

First time I camped it was at BacK of Keppoch just past Arisaig. Going back there soon, but not camping.

It's not like they'll ever really go camping JP.
But they'll be able to use the information I'm providing to sound knowledgeable about camping

What you going to Arisaig for then?

Looks gorgeous BTW, will try that next time we go camping

I'll go there at least a couple of times to get stuff. The shop is actually attached to the fish processing plant thing. So they only really sell stuff which is fresh off the boats. If they have it the lemon sole is the most amazing fish I have ever tasted. Tho' I went one year and they didn't have any in all week.

I'm not a huge fan of other seafood but I will cook it and am told it is absolutely amazing. Fresher than a fresh thing that's particularly fresh.
