    I quite like kaffeine though vlc is also pretty good.

    my personal favorite is Xine & like VLC there are some very cool skins available for Xine, I have VLC looking like WMP11 as a laugh at the moment

    As he/she stated couldt say better. Now I myself use xmms for music and use amarok or xine, koffine for movies ect.

    mplayer ftw! for me, scrolling with the mouse wheel through a movie is really a killer feature. cant live without it anymore. i even use mplayer on windows.

    vlc is great! also mplayer is good(I use it for hdtv movies)
