If someone was described as Asian, I used to think Chinese. I have recently been working with an Indian bloke and Pakistani lad and they think of themselves as Asian, so I have incorporated that and regard them as such as well.

I'm in Eastern Canada and I think of Asians as Japanese/Chinese people. To me, men who wear turbans aren't what I'd call "Asians". They're just who they are.

But that's just what I think, not what everyone thinks, for sure.

I got my arse kicked by a Chinese guy when 14 because i said in front of him "i'm gonna order a Chinky". Stopped using that phrase suddenly. Also, of the few words nearly every Chinese person knows, Chinky/Chink is up there with things like ok, hello, alibaba and microsoft. And they take it very offensively...lots of drunken foreigners have had their arses kicked for it.
