Thread: Protection from DDOS?

  1. #1

    Angry

I don't know why, but someone has been ddosing my seedbox pretty hard in the past week. I'm looking for an effecient way to counter this
My seedbox is running on Debian. Any info will be highgly appreciated cause these attacks become more and more aggresive.

It's very hard job belive me, even best ppl in that job can't reject some ddos attacks, I suggest you either change your provider or find someone to do it instead of you.

I would probably install ethereal and have a look at the traffic your being sent. if its a shared box chances are you might not even be the target or someone is just using too much bandwidth.

It seems like a useful app. Btw, I'm pretty sure that the attacks are directed to me, because besides my torrenting activities, I also host 2 CS 1.6 servers
So the chances are pretty big that some n00b that used cheats got banned and now this is his vendetta. I can't tell who that person is cause the banlist is very, very long. (There isn't an efficient tool to counter cheaters so when none of the 12 admins are there, they can use em )
I'll look through the logs on the box, if there are only 2/3 servers that are causing this mess then I think I can filter them out. We'll have to wait and see.
