Check my website for a big list of great freeware downloads. I personally recommend them all!

Thanks folks for the recommendations. As I mentioned I won't recommend jv16 for beginners. I use it. Didn't like system mech, think its payware anyway. But am still looking for something more idiot proof & thorough like WinDoctor. I dislike Diskeeper Lite as well. So a freeware defrag is being sought. As far as PF's I'm leaning towards Kerio or Sygate. Heard too much adversely about ZA. As far OO I will recommend it, not through personal experience though. As far as unzippers both IZArc & 7-zip are in the running. Thanks all. So to sum up a defragger & a WinDoctorlike progs are still needed.

Just noticed you said that you didn't like the sound of ZA.

I use it myself and have had no problems with it. It's also very easy to use.

Oh yeah also I'd need a free PF. Sygate, Tiny PF, ZA or ? Which is easiest to use? TY.
Zone Alarm is the best and easiest firewall I've run across.
