I am using RR newsgroup right now since I am new to it. If I were to get UseNet, would their servers would have more recent releases than the RR servers?

I do not understand what your query is about as stated above basically newsgroups are what makes up usenet. I have never heard of RR newsgroup. For the purposes of what we are interested all newsgroup are named in a hierarchy. We like the alt.binaries.******* categories.

Ahh I'm sorry, I should have clarrified that. RR = Road Runner news server (My ISP). But if they update at just about the same rate, I think the RR news server will do fine for now.

How are the speeds with Road runner? Is it more like usenet or like dsl, charter -ect?

I had RR, I got my full speed which was 600 kb/s.
All the time.
But at that point the binary retention was like 2 days
