help is their a way to make a 700mb movie into a suppose 500mb

    re-encode it with virtual dub.
change the data bit rate down so that the total filesize will be approx 500MB.
if you tell me the length of the movie, i can suggest an approximate datarate to use.

for example, if you have a 90 minute film, which is 700MB, then the data rate is approximately 1050kbps.
to compress this 700MB file down to a 500MB file, you should use approximately 750kbps data rate.

of course, the quality of the output file will not be as good as the source file though.

why do you want to compress a movie anyway?
are you going to re-encode to vcd and burn to disc?

    ahh...i couldn't understand there

maybe you should think about buying a cd-rw drive. it's really not a lot of money when you think about it, and it'll only take 10 minutes to install

anyway, good luck with the compressing
