It's not true.. I'm danish I got an invite a couple of days ago.. You just have to be an asset to the community I think.. Doesn't matter where your from.. But people outside scandinavia will probably run into some trouble with participating in the forums etc..

I got invite and i ain't norwegian, outside scandinavia too. But i really don't think that anyone will give a invite if you just write: Give me invite.
