And sxc_ant i agree i would use TMPGenc, but its looks pretty complicated to a new user and nero is a lot easier to use.
Are you being serious? That is the easiest piece of software ever!

yes Jetje, avi rules, and it will always rule. It is like the best container ever. I think the only people who actually like mpeg is people who are impatient and want results right away (porn users mostly).. I mean, heck, I can wait for a film to be out in avi. Avi is simply the best format ever. End of discussion.

I used to post all my movies in .mpg here but its to hard to get them spreaded so now they are all going to be on bittorrent (bytemonsoon). What makes u say .avi is the best they are not better than .mpg. If so, state how.

The reason AVI is good is for watching it on your PC. And AVI's are always around 650MB for full movies. Then when you go to convert an AVI to an MPEG (like I did with Waynes World) the MPEG will be too big (my result MPEG was 920MB)

So if you dont mind PC watching, AVI's good.

Now I gotta figure out how to get 920MB onto an 80 minute CDR

I agree with the thread creater, MPG (VCD,SVCD) RULES!! This is only a problem with movies though, as they are usually always .avi. The files I specialize in though are MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Pride FC, UFC, etc. are all in .MPG format.

No even displayed on television avi is better. VCD are almost always a bit of color (blue&#33 also not as sharp as avi files. It has imo to do with the decoding..!
