If you guys are talking about Torrent Leech, what's the problem with invites?

The problem with TL invites it that giving them away for free can get you banned. (from TL faq):

be careful with the tl invites. you can get banned for giving them. even for free.

Look guys, I'm an admitted newbie and just trying to get in the door so to speak, but this makes NO sense!??!
If you earn/have invites because you're a member in good standing, then WHAT the F*** are you supposed to do with them if you can't give them away ?!?
I understand about all the trading brouhaha, but giving away a bloody invite? what's the harm in that? and if you can't give them away OR trade them, WTF are you supposed to do with them?
