    when setting the drives as masters and slaves etc, does it matter what plug it is on the cable, i heard somewhere the slave has to be at the end of the cable and the master on the plug halfway along the cable.
    i didnt think it matters, so does it? cheers.

    Some say that the slave should be on its own controller altogether. As long as you have the jumpers set right, you should be okay. Make sure you have those white pieces of plastic is in the right places and then plug it in. Maybe that helps. Cheers

    ive been working for a hile and i know how to set them up as slave etc, i got four drives so i cant really have any on sperate controller, i just read its somewhere that it matters what bit of the cable master and slave is on?

    It has not mattered for me thus far. If you have the option in BIOS, maybe you could play with that.

    In the AT days the slave was cable selected, just as floppy drives still are. The EIDE and ATA standards removed those restrictions. It doesn't really matter, personally I like the Slave to terminate the cable.
