I am looking into learning a new language, probably taking a course at some college to pass spare time. I was wondering if anyone knew a good trainer-software (you see them advertised on T.V a lot) that I could download to begin (get some basics) before I start learning?

Check out http://www.transparent.com/ , they have a bunch of programs each designed to teach you a different language. I have a copy of the Spanish one myself.. used it awhile back and i'd say it works pretty good. I know alot of common phrases and stuff.

Training software would be ok I guess, but I always liked listening to the cd or cassette tapes with earphones that way its going straight to your brain.

I tried the spanish software and its a big help but there's a ton of content, most of it you dont even need.

Thankyou to both, I got the transparent language package for a number of languages (from emule, Kazaa lacked in them) and they have downloaded. So thanks for the help.
