K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of VFW/ACM codecs, DirectShow filters and tools. Codecs and DirectShow filters are needed for encoding and decoding (playing) audio and video formats. i've finally moved on and don't support the mega pack any longer. only using the regular pack version 3.50. happy with it too.
