Burn With Nero?

I have dl a movie and also put subs under the movie, now I want to burn it onto a dvd with a dvd burner but I cannot do it with Nero, cause I do not know wich option I have to use (dvd iso boot or dvd copy and so on).
If I burn it with a programm like Veritas I cannot play it on a standalone dvdplayer, does anyone know what I have to do?

You cannot just burn the avi file. You have to convert to mpeg2. Full details in vcdhelp.com Go there!!
