    Is There any way to find out exactly what kind of RAM is on a computer???like i want to upgrade my friends hewlet packard...and it is about a year and a half old..im not sure if its PC133 or if it's like PC1700 DDR..or something ya know lol so is thereneway to tell? or do you know what kind of ram a hp of a year and a half age would be running?

    You should be able to call HP and ask them what under the hood, but if you don't want to to do that then there are other options. First, you could take out your ram and see if the manufacturer left it's stcker on the chip. There's a good chance they did, and it should tell you how many mbs it is, what processor compatibility it is, and whether it's DDRam, SDRam, or RDRam. Second, you could comapare the pins on the ram chip to pictures of known PC Whatever ram chips. You could even take your ram to Best Buy or wherever you're planning to buy the ram and compare it to the actual products. Third, you could call your PC's Manufacturer (Hewlette Packard).
