We all know how popular axxo's torrents are on the public trackers. A part of the reason is ofcourse his consistent quality and size but the biggest reason is that most n00bs can easily find a quality release under 1 banner by searching axxo and know it will be good quality. Now I know a lot of ppl here hate axxo because he downloads dvdrs from scene and uploads his rips without giving credit to the scene but thats besides the point. The basic philosophy behind p2p is making content accessible to everyone easily and axxo does it well and i don't think the scene really is hungry for credit from public tracker downloaders who hardly even know what scene is. All of us private, irc, nzb downloaders etc give them credit anyway.

Now, wouldn't it be really cool if there was a consistent tag like "Scene" or "Scenerip" or something like that for all the scene rips. I mean most people on the public trackers don't really know release groups such as nedivx or diamond or vomit and couldn't care less because if they did they wouldn't be on public trackers. Also the scene nfo could be included to give credit but on the torrent name if there can be consistently one single tag to represent the whole scene it would be really easy for all the noobs to search and identify good releases and these releases will be well-seeded instead of 20 different files for each movie.

I know a lot of ppl here dont like the public trackers but c'mon, those are just regular people getting their entertainment from p2p and thats what sharing is all about. Ppl like us can easily identify and download good releases from the private sites and have developed a sixth sense abt whats good quality. Its the noobs who need help and we'd make things hell of a lot easier for them if there could be a way to make public content more organised.

Any thoughts and are there any ppl here who make uploads to public tracker?

well its quite straightforward, t3h 1337 5C3N3 doesnt want their releases spread on p2p at all, private trackers infuriating them enough, and taking it to public trackers is too far off. LOLZ

This can be found in the FAQ part of every tracker
(However, the files you download from us are yours to do as you please. You can always create another torrent, pointing to some other tracker, and upload it to the site of your choice.)

So, i dont think its wrong to upload quality scene release on public trackers
Ps: I am not an uploader on any tracker

Well, the scene may have its own reasons, but these releases spread on public trackers anyway and there's no way of stopping it. And I thought the whole point of p2p was to make content accessible to all, not just some small bunch of self-proclaimed elites. And like you just said, the scene does not even want their releases on private trackers and I can distinctly remember a leaked conversation of theirs where they were dissing ScT and other private trackers.

Don't get me wrong, I am really thankful to the scene for getting us these quality and early releases, but i dont think we have to listen to the scene any more than we have to listen to MPAA or RIAA or even respectable artists campaigning against piracy. We should do what we think is right and I personally am 100% for content on public trackers which is the ultimate form of sharing in the spirit of p2p, even more so than private trackers.

I was not talking about private sites. Those are all scene and quality anyway. I was talking abt public trackers and its noob users who don't know abt private trackers and abt release groups/sites. They're the majority and final mass consumers of the warez and though they're not exactly 1337s, things could be a lot better for them if the public space got more organized.

the problem with public trackers is that it's very hard to impossible to have the uploaders follow rules or standards.

there are just too many and it can not be controlled

that's why you see so many low quality warez there.

a "tagging rule" like you describe would not work on a public tracker. who should control it?

even on public tracker you can leave torrent comments. if a downloader reads those, with little experience he can easily find out wether the release is good or not.

axxo releases are the most downloaded in the bt world, because they have a certain quality standard.

one might say they are a group that specialises in rips for the masses.

you can have standards in a group, but not in millions of users on public trackers.
