Thread: Problem With Cd Burner

  1. #1
Every time I try to burn a cd, the process fails. Anyone know what the problem(s) could be?

Or your ide drivers. Do you have an nforce board? If so then remove the ide drivers. Check here.

Does the burn fail immediately when you commence it, or midway? I'd probably try reinstalling your mobo drivers.

i have xp pro and i use nero to burn. i tried burning at the slowest speed possible but it still failed. it usually writes for about 2 minutes and then quits. i don't remember exactly what the error was.

would it help at all if i re-installed xp?

I wouldn't do that until you try everything else.

Have you ever been able to burn with your current set-up?

I upgraded to xp pro about a month ago. i was able to burn fine until this week. i've also had trouble ripping cds as well.

    I think it'll be a driver problem.
First i'd check for the latest drivers for your mobo. Actually, the generic ide controllers that come with XP should cause you no problems so try uninstalling the drivers you're currently using.

There a number of potential problems, drivers are unlikely to be at fault if you get a couple of minutes into the burn.

Try again, write down the error, come back and tell us what it says.
