I converted the movie The Matrix to mpeg2 at the full qualtiy setting and it came out to about 2 gigs..Then, I converted the movie Blow to mpeg2 with the exact same settings and it only came out to about 1 gig. The thing is, the Matrix is only 8min longer than Blow. And, the Matrix took like 4hrs to convert and Blow took like 11hrs. What the fuck is up with that?

could be a number of things. probably something in the settings.
need more info to tell exactly where you went wrong.

well, I wouldn't exactly say I went wrong, the quality was still pretty good.
Under other settings, For Rate Control>Constant Quality
    Motion Control>Highest Quality
Source Aspect Ratio>full screen(keep aspect ratio)

Those are the only settings I changed and I did the samething for both films.

The type of compression may have something to do with it.
    Just a guess

That is exactly what it is. the higher the rate of compression the longer it is gonna take to encode. Combined with other things, frame errors, the frame rate that you are encoding with. I have had 1/2 movies take up to 15 hours. It happens.

Edit: also the thread priority you have it set at, and what else you are doing on your comp will have a big effect.
