Try using TMPGEnc plus to crop out the section you want, then open it from file in animation shop.
1700 frames is a hell of a lot. You got enough ram to handle that? The sigs you see here are about 20 frames average. You can reduce size by removing all the similar frames and cropping the important parts of the images. Then run it through the optimization wizzard and save it. Open it in IE and check the properties for file size.
