Why is my ping so high when I'm playing multiplayer games such as counterstrike or poker? It results in either me getting kick out or connection time out. I'm on rogers cable hi-speed internet. I went to do a ping test at free sites and it's around 20-30 but it's totally different when I'm playing online. Can anyone help me with this?

Try different servers.
Your connection is only half the equation. The distance (location) of the server you're connected to in this case is probably far away.

How many mb/s? Scan for Spyware in Safe mode too. Something else may be limiting your internet speed.

Some things to try when you are having trouble with ping.
1. Turn of all downloads/uploads If you are running a torrent program then just exit it.
2. Is your Wifi open ? Set a password or change the old one.
3. Make sure youare playing on servers as close to your country as possible.

7MB download and like 0.6MB upload. I have my router port-forwarded. I even tried to connect directly and it seems better(120-200 ping compared to 200+ with router). Could it be a router problem? I used Ad-Aware and did a full scan (not on save mode) and only some cookies showed up. I never download/upload anything when I'm playing online games. This problem never occurred before, just in the recent month.
