Thread: Has Apple And Buymusic Set The Market?

  1. #1
They are selling songs approved by the RIAA for 79 to 99 cents. How does the RIAA get this figure of up to $150,000 lost per song shared? I think if they want to push this they should only be able to recover what money they would have lost if these songs were not downloaded legally. Hopefully sane juries will prevail through common sense or jury nullification and ognore the copyright laws when reaching verdicts.

What in the name of all that is holy are you talking about.

Jury nullification is when the jury disagrees with the law and decides to ignore it when reaching verdicts. If they think that the case is not fair they have the power to throw it out.

Except juries won't be involved in civil cases.

Why wouldn't juries be involved? I served on a jury in a civil suit last spring.
